Just over a month ago, a dream of mine to attend New York Fashion Week came true. Just days before I flew to NYC, opportunity to attend a few shows were presented to me that I could not pass up. Myself and my friend who resides in Los Angeles, Erica from www.erienick.com, packed our bags, booked a last minute flight and set off to the city that truly never sleeps.
The past two weeks I touched on my recent trip to the big apple in a three part series: Where I Ate & Where I Stayed. Today, the final post in my #NYFW series, is what I was truly was up to besides cafe hoping!
Below are the highlights from New York Fashion Week experience!
Coach Varsity Party
Just after touching down in New York, I headed to the Coach’s Varsity Shop in Soho to kick off to the week ahead. Immediately upon entering the party, I was greeted by waiters and waitress with endless amount of mini hotdogs, sliders and other delicious food. As I browsed their current collection, I sipped on one of their three signature cocktails and took in the incredibly infleuntial crowd (think Beckerman Twins and Stuart Vevers-the head designer of Coach). I feel in love with their current line of varsity jackets, feminine details and the touch of british cool that seeped through their current designs!

Being invited to the Tommy Hilfiger show was not only a highlight of my week….it was one of the top highlights of my life to date. I feel extremely fortunate to be invited amongst the likes of Taylor Swift, Olivia Palermo, Anna Wintour….to name a few. Heck, even Kris Jenner was seated in the crowd. The show was a collaboration with Gigi Hadid and showcased a nautical themed collection that emulated Gigi’s effortless street style yet remained classic to the all American brand that is Tommy Hilfiger. Although Gigi opened and closed the show, other notorious models that walked included Hailey Baldwin, Devon Windsor, Sara Sampaio and Taylor Hill. The show was situated on pier 16 and emulated a real-life carnival… a 40-foot ferris wheel, iconic fair rides and cotton candy and hot dog stands that would make you salivate the second you walked on the pier.

Another great show that I had the privilege to attend was the Rebecca Minkoff show. This show truly was the epitome of street style as the show was literally in the street just in front of their Soho shop. Besides the downtown cool aesthetic of Rebecca’s designs, I thought it was incredibly inspiring that they had real-life influencers walk their runway instead of solely a roster of models. Rebecca hit it out of the park with her leather jackets, velvet booties and sequin mini dresses….all trends that I plan to incorporate in my upcoming looks!
Reward Style Party
As a semi-recent influencer on Reward Style, I feel incredibly fortunate to have been invited to their 5th annual Reward Style NYFW Party. The party was located at Milk Studios in Chelsea and was visited by some of the top influential fashion bloggers that I follow regularly. Music filled the indoor venue and large outdoor patio that overlooked the Hudson River . The bar was filled with yummy cocktails and a photo booth (as seen above) that kept me entertained throughout the cocktail hour. Once the party started to dwindle down, many of us made our way to the Bloglovin’ Awards that was located just down the street. However, prior to making our way to the award show, we made a little pit stop at the Standard Grill for a quick meal!

The night before I headed back to Nova Scotia, Erica and I headed to the Bloglovin’ Awards hosted by Leandra Medine from the Man Repellar and H&M. Many of the most influential bloggers were awarded for their achievements and successes. Amongst the crowd were Marianna Hewitt from lifewithme.com, Jacey Duprie from damselindior.com, Chiara Ferragni from theblondesalad.com and Louie Roe….to only name a few!
Although those were some of the main highlights, others included meetings at the Tommy Hilfiger HQ and meeting Lo Bosworth and her editorial assistant. Like anything in life, if you have a dream…whatever it may be, I recommend staying focused, persevering and believing that anything and everything is possible!
Now for counting down the days until the next fashion week! Stay tuned!
