NYC: Coffee Guide

Yes, I admit…I am a bit of a coffee snob. Heck, my friends in college didn’t call me the mocha princess for nothing! And although my warm beverage of choice has changed multiple times over the years, I truly believe I will remain a cappuccino queen for life (…..I can be a self proclaimed queen, right?)

Before I go on a holiday, I like to research the locals’ top recommended cafés. I always try to stay away from coffee establishments we have here in Halifax and venture out to try new tastes. Below are my favorite coffee joints in NYC…. I have been visiting many of these cafés for years and I can’t recommend each of them enough!

Bluestone Lane Cafe
55 Greenwich Ave
New York, NY 10014

This Australian café has multiple locations in New York City (as well as a Philadelphia location) but the one in the west village has always been my favorite. The menu is stocked with delicious and nutritious options and the coffee is truly something you won’t forget. It is a quaint café, with spacious seating both inside and out…..and the teal colored coffee cups always make for pretty snapshots, right?!

 Ralph’s Coffee
2nd Floor, 711 5th Ave
New York, NY 10022

What is not to love when you combine a legendary fashion designer and a simple life pleasure? This special café is located on the second floor of Ralph Lauren’s flagship store. Among the beautifully designed garments is a fresh and airy café that encapsulates RL’s signature American esthetic.

Chalait
224 West 4th Street
New York, NY 10014

Chalait (pronounced ‘chalet’) is known (and insta famous) for their matcha green tea beverages as well as their specialty coffees. If you’re looking for a truly different café experience then I suggest stepping out of your comfort zone and ordering the matcha. Matcha contains high levels of fiber and antioxidants and can even lower your LDL cholesterol (the ‘bad’ cholesterol).

 Saturdays Surf NYC
17 Perry Street
New York, NY 10014

This west village surf shop is one of many locations but this one is my favorite. The espresso bar located in at the front of the store uses Saturday’s very own blend of La Colombe coffee. You can enjoy your coffee both on the benches inside or outside the shop while others browse the racks for unique surf attire.

So if you’re heading to the big apple anytime soon, try a cappuccino, latte or Americano at any of the above cafes…..and be sure to let me know what you think!

Sincerely,
Blare June xx
