The Canyon Suites At The Phoenician

The winters are long and cold here in Canada so the thought that I would be escaping the great north to spend a weekend in the dry heat this spring not only warmed my heart all winter long … it warmed my bones. Although I have visited the desert once prior, I can’t remember too many details as I was so young. However, what I do remember quite clearly (at such a young age), was that I was going to re-visit as an adult to take advantage of what a weekend in the desert truly had to offer.

The Rosseau: Mind & Body

A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of escaping the hustle and bustle of Toronto and headed to the beautiful JW Marriott The Rosseau Muskoka. Although I knew heading up north to cottage country would be relaxing, I didn’t predict I would find such calmness while engaging in recreational activities.

I must admit, I am not usually adventurous or activity-oriented on a weekend holiday. However, laying low can sometimes descend into endless hours of scrolling social media and finishing those loose ends from work. Therefore, I wanted to make sure my time at The Rosseau wasn’t jam packed yet was still a positive distraction from my every day commitments.

JW Marriott The Rosseau Muskoka

There is nothing I enjoy more than escaping the hustle and bustle that is my reality to explore fresh surroundings and form new memories. Although jumping on a plane for an exotic location is always exciting, I can often find what I am searching for in my own back yard.

As a physician specializing in psychiatry, I give advice and recommendations day in and day out on maintaining work life balance and managing stress and anxiety. While I can easily advise others on best practices, I don’t always take my own advice. Recently, I found myself needing some rest and relaxation as I was feeling run down and the smallest tasks started to become overwhelming. Although I knew a getaway was in order, the idea of airports and changing currency had me immediately feeling exhausted. Therefore, when presented with the opportunity to visit the beautiful JW Marriott The Rosseau Muskoka, I quickly packed my bags and headed north feeling both excited and calm.

The Time New York

Earlier this month I ventured off to one of my favorite cities, New York City, for a quick weekend trip. Having a jam packed schedule over three short days, I knew I needed my home away from home to not only be central but to be comfortable and inviting.

Over the past year, I have been following The Time New York on social media and made it my mission to file this hotel away for future reference. With meetings scheduled both uptown and downtown, a hotel that was located in the heart of the city and easily accessible as I make my way to opposite ends of the city was vital. The Time New York is perfectly situated in midtown in the Times Square district. If you have not been to New York before, Times Square is one of the busiest areas lined with skyscrapers, lights and an energy that never seems to sleep. With all of the commotion and the classic New York buzz in the air, this area of the city is often jam packed with tourists visiting from all over the world.

Charleston: Zero George

If you have been following me on Instagram this past month then you may have noticed I visited Charleston a few weekends back.  Charleston has always been one of those places I have dreamed of visiting. I’ll be honest, besides wanting to experience the southern charm that I have heard so much about, I really feel in love with the idea of a town filled with pink houses, beautiful shutters and wrap around porches.

When searching for a place for my husband and I to stay on our weekend getaway, the hotel that continued to catch my eye on social media and online reviews was the Zero George Boutique Hotel. I have stayed my fair share of hotel chains in my life but there is something always so special when you experience a one of a kind boutique hotel.

The Ritz Carlton Orlando, Grande Lakes

Just a few short weeks ago, over the holiday season, my family and I went to Orlando for a quick two day trip. As a result of having a father that is somewhat Disney obsessed, throughout the years we have visited the happiest place on earth more times than I can actually count. When my dad excitedly called me one day this past fall to let me know that we would be spending a few days in Orlando, I was of course excited to re-live some of my fondest childhood memories but I have to admit…I wasn’t so keen on staying in Disney. Instead, I wanted a less ‘park like hotel’ and more of  a calm and relaxing holiday. When the opportunity to work with the The Ritz Carlton Orlando, Grande Lakes was presented, I knew that both my dad’s needs (I swear he isn’t 10 years old in all aspects of his life) and my requests were going to be met at this breathtaking resort!
