Vancouver: Business & Leisure

Traveling has always been one of my greatest pleasures. I try to take any opportunity to explore new surroundings or immerse myself in a different culture. I recently went to present at a conference in Vancouver and although my main focus in Vancouver was for work, I could not resist checking out some trendy gems between work related commitments.

Work/life balance has always been important to me, and when I travel for work it is no different. When I am away for work I always try to meet up with friends in the city, grab a bite at a trendy restaurant and of course sneak in a little shopping. In my experience, maintaining this balance helps me stay focused when working.

If you find yourself in Vancouver for either business or leisure, I highly recommend checking out a few of these must stops.

I have yet to find a more visually pleasing nail salon. I enjoyed both a manicure and pedicure while sipping on a cappuccino and eating mini lilac colored doughnuts. Both of my services included an all-natural, organic line of exclusive Joyride products. There was an extensive range of nail polish brands including some of my favorites: Essie, Deborah Lippman and OPI. If you’re visiting Vancouver and in need a polish and a little ‘me time’…..then this is the place for you.

As much as I like to maintain healthy eating habits when traveling, sometimes you need to indulge as well. As I sipped on my cappuccino and nibbled on a delicious doughnut, I watched the locals as they got their morning fuel. The atmosphere, the coffee and the people watching were all inspiring to me. I even picked up a few ‘west coast’ fashion trends.

I don’t think I can go to a new city without at least browsing my favorite shops. Even if I am not in need of a new item or previously decided that this trip is not a ‘shopping trip,’ I still enjoy browsing and researching the latest trends. Anytime I am in a large Canadian city, I make sure I take a little peak at the beautifully displayed items in Holt Renfrew. Browsing never killed anyone before…..right?

Glory Juice Bar
2186 West 4th Ave
British Columbia

Even though I like to indulge a tad more on vacation than when I am in my normal daily routine, I still like to eat clean and fresh if feasible when traveling. I stumbled upon this delicious juice bar in Vancouver that was filled with 100% organic cold-pressed juice, nut beverages, juice cleanses, raw shakes and superfood bowls. I stocked up on a few items to eat on the go, which really served me well when working and not having enough time to go grab a meal.
